INTRO (a.k.a. band of a thousand bass players): The CRUNKY KIDS was a project I began with Bobby Zeiger (CIDER,
RINGWORM, DOMESTIC CRISIS, DARVISETTES), really a continuation of HANGNAIL,
basically to get Zeiger to play one last time after his self-imposed retirement. Zeiger was the drummer on the majority of
the HANGNAIL records, at the height of it's total noise distortion phase. I had continued HANGNAIL
with Konya (SCHNAUZER, MINCH, NUNSLAUGHTER) when Zeiger left and didn't want to
call this new thing HANGNAIL. Also, I decided I no longer wanted to have any grind or blast beats (I don't
even like grind, blasts were something that all 3 HANGNAIL drummers did on their own). So, I convinced Zeiger
to come out of retirement, to do this thing as just a one shot, recorded quickly with little practice (what's new?), with
no blast beats and much less distortion. The result was the "A is for Angry" 7" (named after a thrifted children's book).
If I remember correctly, the Japanese symbols in the upper right hand corner of the cover stand for Anger, Grief, Suffering
& Death. After the disbandment of HANGNAIL, KISS THE GRAVE and
NIGHTCREAM and before the formation of BOMBBUILDER, I decided it would be nice to reform
The CRUNKY KIDS as a real band capable of playing out and such, only to run into the same problems that plagued
HANGNAIL (HANGNAIL was a kind of retarded hardcore non-supergroup, consisting of who ever
had free time to play, I believe the final tally was 3 drummers, 2 bass players and myself). The CRUNKY KIDS 2nd
line-up consisted of Wedge (9 SHOCKS TERROR, G.S.M.F.) on drums, Crazy Gon (HEMDALE)
on bass, Annoying Christy (L.O.P., PRAPERATION H) on extra vox and myself on guitar and vox. That lasted
for about a week, the 3rd line-up was the same only with Hot Carl (BLACK SANTA, NIGHTCREAM) on bass,
that also didn't last long! Chris Smith (KEELHAUL) did a fine fill in job in the summer of 2002 and
we were able to play a gig with Japan's QUILL. The winter of 2003-2004 had Jocelin playing bass for a couple
of weeks and when that petered out we went on hiatus for a while. Jimmy played bass for a bit in 2004 when
he wasn't traveling around the country doing vocals for ANNIHILATION TIME and drums for NO PEACE,
but he was gone more than he was here so we recruited Matt (UPSTAB, NO PEACE) to play bass
as well. At one point we played a gig that had Jimmy playing bass for two-thirds of the set and Matt for the rest. Matt
seems to be the permanent guy now. He's a solid player and gives new depth to the band...new stuff coming by the Fall of 2005. The 1st CRUNKY KIDS 7" was recorded in December 1999, the reformation
was late summer 2001. Available now on Distort Ohio Records is the BRODY'S MILITIA (also
from Ohio) / CRUNKY KIDS split 7". The CONGA FURY (from Japan) / CRUNKY KIDS split
7" is available now on Hibachi Records. The ZEMEZLUC (from Czech Republic) / CRUNKY KIDS split
7" is also available now on Hibachi Records. The CHAINSAW (from Japan) / CRUNKY KIDS split
7" is also available now on Hibachi Records. The CRUNKY KIDS "Theories Of Hate And Time" 7" is currently
available on My Mind's Eye/ Schizophrenic Records/ Torture Garden Records/ Decision Of Fate & Hibachi Records. Enjoy Much Noise,
